NHS 111 and online services
NHS 111 is a free service that provides urgent medical help and advice over the phone or online.
You should contact NHS 111 for advice before going to A and E if your situation is not life threatening.

Health visitors
Health visitors support families with babies and young children from the antenatal period (28 weeks) until the child turns 5.
Health visitors are registered nurses and midwives who have additional training in public health nursing. They work with families to identify health needs at the earliest opportunity to improve health and wellbeing.

The Children’s Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Service works with families, education staff and other health professionals to support children’s speech, language, communication and feeding skills.
The SLT service:
- works with children aged 0 to 16 whose speech, language, communication or feeding difficulties impact on their lives.
- aims to provide practical advice and support to empower the child, and/or the people within the child’s support network, to develop their functional communication and feeding skills.
- is available to support families when they need. The level of involvement with families will depend on their individual needs.
