About the programme:

Reflective Parenting is a programme to support sensitive parenting and aims to promote family relationships and reduce parent and child conflicts.

The programme encourages you, through discussions, activities and new understanding to pause, think and consider your child perspective before reacting. The aim is to prevent situations from becoming more difficult and reduce behavioural and emotional outbursts.

The key elements of Reflective Parenting are mindfulness, empathy, self-awareness, curiosity and flexibility.

This approach can lead to benefits for both you and your child, such as:

  • Stronger parent-child relationship
  • Improved communication
  • Better emotional regulation
  • Enhanced problem-solving skills
  • Increased empathy and understanding
  • Secure attachment which is essential
  • for healthy emotional development

What is covered?

Over the 8 weeks you will look at topics including:

  • Communication
  • Self-esteem
  • Understanding feelings and reactions
  • Understanding the function of behaviours
  • Family relationships.

Practical Information

We will work with you in a group face to face with other parents. The groups are normally between 8 to 12 parents and carers, who want to find out new ways to support their child.  Sessions include a refreshment break.

You will be provided with all the resources you need accompany the programme.

You are welcome to come to the sessions alone or with a partner or with another relative or friend who supports you in the care of your child.

We recommend that you come to all sessions to get the most out of the programme.

The programme is delivered by fully trained, supportive practitioners.

We can provide a creche run by qualified staff, please let us know if you require a space.
